In 2003, Barker Lemar received an inquiry from a representative with a local utility provider to determine if we provided geothermal drilling services. Apparently, residential geothermal installations were on the rise among residential developers due to the newly created renewable energy rebate program it had launched earlier and demand had now exceeded available resources.
Barker Lemar had long been providing environmental drilling and after meeting with industry experts and researching equipment specifications, regulations, methodologies and best management practices we realized on obvious fit for our firm and soon took on our first project.
Over the next several years and up to today, Barker Lemar has sent the benchmark for performance and has invested time and energy in educating the consumer and designer on such topics as conductivity testing, impact of formation on conductivity, drilling methods, problem formations, factors impacting installation costs, keys to a successful project, keys to obtaining optimum bid prices and plans and specifications.
Today, we maintain a full fleet of equipment and a highly experience staff of over 25 providing geothermal installations across the Midwest from Des Moines to Chicago, from Madison to Omaha. Logging thousands of miles and installing literally over a million miles of loop system!
We attribute our success to the unique difference we offer from other contractors in that we approach a project with the understanding of the geological make up of the site and with the experience of providing construction management services on a wide variety of projects. Our program also incorporates quality control, quality assurance measures at specific phases of the project to ensure a successful installation.
